II. Summary
MultiTech is releasing new ordering part numbers for select SocketModem® Cell LTE Cat 4 cellular embedded modem products. The existing ordering part numbers are changing status from Generally Available to End-of-Life (EOL) effective immediately.
The new ordering part numbers will include a new radio firmware version that changes the default User Equipment (UE) setting from Voice Centric to Data Centric. This change is in response to the AT&T 3G sunset and its impacts on certain 4G devices. See PCN# 05062021-00 for more information on this topic. As a reminder, customers using the models listed in the PCN on the Verizon network or networks in Europe or Australia are not impacted by this change.

The core functionality of these new ordering part numbers has not changed. MultiTech has made this update to address a change in carrier network requirements for 4G devices.
For customers that have existing inventory of the original ordering part number (MTSMC-L4G1), MultiTech recommends you keep that inventory. With supply chains still constrained it is the best way to make sure you have the product you need.
Customers have the option of updating existing inventory (MTSMC-L4G1) with the new Data Centric firmware. This is recommended if you are an AT&T customer. To learn more about the options for updating firmware and to request the new files, please open a support ticket at the following location:

III. Impacted Products – Old and New Ordering Part Numbers
The impacted old ordering part number products listed in this PCN are now considered End-of-Life (EOL). Please work with your distribution partner to update exiting orders to call for the new ordering part numbers.
